The last update I’ve seen was back in September. The car sounds like EXACTLY what I want and need, assuming it comes in around $35k or so.
Anything more recent?

I’m hoping the Fusion ST sells well, because it means Honda might decide to sell us the 400hp Accord safety car as a Type-R model.

If they build a Fusion ST, it will most certainly be more than $35k. I’d bet it’ll be closer to $45k.

I guess it’ll depend on whether or not they use the I4 EcoBoost from the Mustang or the RS, or possibly a sharper tune of their blown V6, and if it’s FWD or AWD. I wager it’ll have to be AWD, but it could also be the fancy-schmancy system from the Focus RS or a slightly less burly system, with upgrades optional.
But I can’t see a Ford Fusion costing Audi S3 money unless it was pushing 350 hp with the sweetass torque vectoring AWD from the Focus RS. That’s just me.
Regardless, I’m interested!

Ford is not going to price a Fusion over the cost of a Taurus SHO.

You mean the Mazdaspeed 6? Because that seems like a way late Mazdaspeed 6 to me. As if the Focus ST wasn’t already a Mazdaspeed 3 rip-off. Almost part for part.

I think it’s $36k to start here in the US, while the S3 starts at $41k. However I have yet to see a single S3 on any Texas dealer’s site for less than $48k. No idea what the dealers are expecting to charge over MSRP for the RS.
For what it’s worth, I’ve also yet to see a Golf R for less than $40k, at least locally.

You’re assuming the SHO will continue. The new Lincoln is based on the Fusion, not the Taurus. We might see things get shaken up a bit in the near future.

Of course we could always dream of a stretched Mustang chasis and the flat plane crank engine driving a true world-beater.

If Ford is making a new larger Lincoln based on an elongated Fusion chassis, it would make sense that they’re also going to make a new Ford model based on the same elongated chassis. Ford will not sell a vehicle that is faster than the SHO nor more expensive than the SHO other than the Mustang and GT IMO. We’ll see how it goes. Here’s to hoping a Fusion ST is $30k.

Unless the Taurus goes away and makes room for something RWD or AWD to compete with the Charger.
Too bad there’s no precedent for such a vehicle in Ford’s recent history.

I was under the impression the Taurus was a stablemate to the Impala and Charger. I don’t think they’ll make it RWD since most of their vehicles have FWD-based AWD as an option anyway.

Alls I know is FCA sells lots and lots of Chargers. GM and Ford sell hardly any Impalas and Taurii. So maybe something’s gonna change.
